Over four million children are being cared for by a grandparent with or without the parent present in the home. Grandparents raising grandchildren often need to overcome complex obstacles such as economic hardship, legal challenges, housing and employment issues, health considerations, and social isolation. Senior Services offers a variety of services including a monthly support group, information and referral, educational workshops, and respite suggestions.
Support Groups are held once a month at 5:30 PM at the South End Senior Center, 70 Canterbury Street, East Hartford.
For more information or to register, call 569-5659. Childcare and transportation will be provided with registration. At most support group meetings we have guest speakers covering a variety of topics of interest to participants. Dinner is also provided.
