How old do you have to be to go to the East Hartford Senior Centers? 55 or older.
What are the membership requirements for attending the Senior Centers? The East Hartford Senior Centers do not require membership. Any East Hartford resident age 55 and older is welcome to register for any senior center program offered by the Town. There is, however, two senior clubs that require membership for club activities like bingo. Senior Services offers a monthly newsletter that describes the programs offered by both the Town and the clubs. The newsletter is available at the Senior Centers as well as the library and some local stores.
How often does the Golden Ager newsletter come out? The Golden Ager newsletter is a monthly publication and is available at the beginning of each month.
What are the addresses of the East Hartford Senior Centers? The South End Senior Center is located at 70 Canterbury Street, East Hartford, CT 06118. The North End Senior Center is located at 30 Remington Road, East Hartford, CT 06108.
When are the East Hartford Senior Centers open? Normal hours for the South End Senior Center is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The North End Senior Center is only open when there is an activity going on. There are also evening and weekend activities scheduled regularly. Does the Town of East Hartford provide Meals on Wheels? Several agencies in the Greater Hartford area provide meals-on-wheels to East Hartford residents. Here are 2 of them: Community Renewal Team (CRT) can be reached by calling 860-560-5828; and the 2nd one is CT VNA Partners, and they can be reached by calling 860-528-2273.
Does the East Hartford Senior Centers offer lunch? On Mondays and Wednesdays, lunch is available for people age 60 and older at the South End Senior Center, and on Tuesdays, lunch is available for people age 60 and older at the North End Senior Center. Advance reservations are required. Please call 860-568-4281 for more information.
Are there any evening or weekend activities available at the senior centers? Yes. On Mondays, Tai Chi is offered at 5:30 PM at the South End Senior Center. Once a month on Sunday afternoons, Mostly Waltz dances are offered at the South End Senior Center. On Thursday evenings, Square Dancing is offered at the North End Senior Center. Does the Town of East Hartford provide homemaking services for seniors who are unable to do light housekeeping tasks? The Town of East Hartford Senior Services division does not offer homemaking services. Please call 860-569-5659 for information about home care agencies that serve East Hartford residents.
